Ojibwe Language and Culture 1 (GNED 1010)

Language is culture. Learning the language is learning about the people. In this course, students begin the study of the Algonquin language family. Basic vocabulary, common usage and grammatical structure of the Ojibwe language are introduced. Through the context of language, students gain insight into the history of Indigenous languages as irreplaceable cultural knowledge and the cornerstone of Indigenous community and family values.
