Mysteries of the Animal Mind (GNED 1079)

Students are introduced to the study of animal minds. A wide range of scientific research on the animal kingdom is surveyed with an emphasis on ‘higher’ mammals such as dogs, cats, birds, dolphins, and chimpanzees. Students investigate animals’s abilities to learn, solve problems, use tools, and form relationships from a number of perspectives including Indigenous worldviews. By comparing humans to other animals students gain a deeper understanding of biology, evolution, neuroscience, and human nature.
