Bath Design (KBDE 1001)

Students develop an understanding of the functional and spatial qualities of bath design. The design and the decision making processes relevant to the planning of baths are explored and applied. Students learn to renovate and design of existing residential baths in accordance with specific criteria, regulatory codes, barrier free requirements, and principles of universal design. Students acquire skills to define the scope of a residential bath project, site measure an existing bath, and design functional and code-compliant bath spaces. The elements and principles of design, design philosophies, and current aesthetic qualities relevant to bath design are examined, together with the sourcing and specification of fixtures, fittings and cabinetry.
