Specifying and Estimating (KBDE 1003)
Students develop competency in estimating and specifying techniques, and learn to prepare an itemized bill of quantities from specifications for kitchen and bath designs. Methods for the preparation of a comprehensive list of material quantities for fabrication and proprietary item purchases will be explored. Students learn how to produce cost estimates for construction materials, design components, equipment, fixtures, as well as labour costs for construction and installation. Methods for estimating contingency sums and specifying provisional sums are also examined.
