Proficiency in Survival Techniques (MARI 0265)

This course meets the requirements of STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Convention Regulation VI/1 and STCW Code Tables A-VI/1-1 (personal survival techniques). Participants acquire knowledge, understanding and proficiency in shipboard emergency procedures, including collision, fire, and foundering. The proficiency of knowledge extends to and includes types of lifesaving appliances normally carried on various vessels and equipment in survival craft, including the location of personal lifesaving appliances, the principles concerning survival, the value of training and drills, personal protective clothing and equipment, need to be ready for any emergency, actions to take when called to survival craft stations, actions to take when required to abandon ship, actions to take when in the water. There are two pre-requisites required for this course: Participants must be a minimum of 16-years of age and hold a Marine Fitness Report.
