Contemporary Social Movements (POLC 4007)

In this course, students explore theoretical foundations and subsequent evolution of major social movements within a law enforcement context. Building upon concepts of diversity, political power and civil protest, students critically assess the impact of forces such as universal suffrage, feminism, environmentalism and anti-globalism, in a local and international framework, and develop strategies for managing engagement of these movements in civil society.
